A day of "What the fuckery"
So yesterday I was able to put my very new CBT training to use in what could only be described as a day of what the fuckery.
Picture the scene:
A pleasant drive to a city to seek out a specific place, with a view to visit specific place.
Fill the car up with 15 quids worth of petrol. That'll get me there and back easy. I've got 20 quid. Be reet that.
Won't need a car charger as I'll only be using the sat nav on my phone there and part the way back.
Won't need my bank card or anything, it's just a quick trip to a city, its an hour there and an hour back.
Easy.
WRONG!!!
Roadworks meet Satnav,Satnav meet Roadworks.
"Your destination is on your left"
No it's bloody not because I'm on a bloody dual carriage way and located to my bloody left is a bloody wall!! Because there's bloody Roadworks everywhere!
Not to mention the one way system on top of the bloody roadworks!
1 hour and 45 minutes of going round and round and round and round and round the city centre of Leeds to look for a place which either didn't exist or had been buried under the bloody Roadworks! My Satnav lost its charge in the end as it drained the battery on my phone.
As I travelled the 15th time down the same road,I thought to myself, right. This right now is a trigger. I assessed the thoughts I was having:
Negative
I hate this stupid Satnav
It always happens to me
Fothermucker bastid
And then the feelings:
I'm really upset
I feel stupid
I can't do anything right.
I hate myself at times
Now it's thoughts like this which make me, certainly, reach out for the bottle. Looking for an excuse to drink, Shaz? Here are 8 reasons! Because how we think and how we feel result in how we act.
Change the way we think, and we can change the way we act.
So I changed the thoughts to
Well it's just Roadworks
Shit happens
Nobody died
It's 5 hours away from the ward.
The feelings changed to
OK I'm OK now
Drama queen
Given your record of escorting people,Holstead, we can't expect less
It's funny when you think about it
And that change in itself resulted in me going home and drinking 3 cans of diet Fanta.
I've documented it in a journal as well, to remind myself that on occasions I might not be able to change my thought process but I managed it the very first time that I tried
😊✌
Ergo it's not the problems that arise it's the mind set for dealing with them. Well done on that score. Mind over matter. 💗💗💗
ReplyDeleteAw so true 🥰
DeleteYOU and your thought change process ROCK!!!!!! Even tho there will always be challenges, we can always turn them around.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks ma'am 😊 xx
DeleteWow! You are a Rockstar! Way to do the work and turn it around. The more you do this in these situations I bet it becomes easier to find the turn arounds when you need them. Super impressive!! ❤️❤️ xx
